Settings for busy servers

A few switches trade a little of the mod's life for server time on crowded servers.

The mod is built to stay light with many players. On a crowded server, these settings trade a little life for server time. Each is safe to change while the server runs.

Setting File What it saves
glowingMountsLightTheWorld = false fantasy-server.toml Glowing mounts still glow but stop lighting up what is around them, which spares the block and lighting updates of a light that follows each one
activity under [wild] fantasy-balance.toml Lower it (say 0.5) and wild mounts do things half as often
behaviors = false under [wild] fantasy-server.toml Wild mounts only wander and look around: no grazing, burrowing, hunting and the rest
chance under [spawning] fantasy-balance.toml Fewer wild mounts: 0.5 is about half as many
despawnFarAway = true under [spawning] fantasy-balance.toml Untamed mounts nobody is near despawn, as monsters do. Tamed, named, leashed, ridden and bred mounts never do
maxSpeed under [flight] fantasy-server.toml Keep it at its default (1.8) or lower. Much faster flight makes the server load new ground faster

The settings

Each with what it does, its default and the values it takes. Copy a line, or change them all in the Settings Workbench.

fantasy-server.toml

abilities.glowingMountsLightTheWorld#

Glowing mounts (and wild ones whose behaviour glows) light up what is around them: an invisible light block follows each one as it moves. Off: they still glow, but light nothing, which spares a busy server those block and lighting updates.

On or offDefault true

wild.behaviors#

Untamed mounts graze, burrow, bask, sleep, call, hunt and the rest on their own. Off: they only wander and look around.

On or offDefault true

flight.maxSpeed#

Upper bound on any mount's flight speed, in blocks per tick (keep below chunk loading).

NumberDefault 1.8From 0.1 to 4

fantasy-balance.toml

wild.activity#

How often untamed mounts do things (2.0 = twice as often, 0.5 = half as often). Busier mounts cost a little more server time.

NumberDefault 1From 0.1 to 10

spawning.chance#

The chance a wild spawn goes ahead, multiplied (0.5 = about half as many wild mounts, 0: none).

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 1

spawning.despawnFarAway#

Untamed mounts no player is near despawn, as monsters do. Tamed, named, leashed, ridden and bred mounts never do. Off: wild mounts stay, as vanilla animals do.

On or offDefault false
