Other mods

What the mod needs, the mods it works with, how it respects claims and protection, and the few things to know when you mix it with others.

What it needs

  • Forge and NeoForge: nothing but the loader.
  • Fabric and Quilt: Fabric API and Forge Config API Port. The download page links both for your version.
  • Every player needs the mod, and the same version as the server. Vanilla clients, Bedrock players (through Geyser) and version bridges can’t join a server running it.

Mods it works with

Mod What you get
Jade or WTHIT Looking at a mount shows its owner, level, riders and seats, speed and jump height. Their settings have a switch for it
Mod Menu (Fabric and Quilt) A Config button for the mod’s interface theme, as the Forge and NeoForge mod lists have
Permission mods such as LuckPerms (Fabric and Quilt) Give players single commands by their permission nodes. See Commands
Claim and protection mods Ability blocks respect them (below)
Shaderpacks The mod draws with Minecraft’s own rendering, so shaderpacks work. It is tested with Complementary, BSL, Photon, Solas, Bliss and MakeUp, through Iris or Oculus with Sodium or Embeddium

Claims and protection

Before an ability places or changes a block, the mod checks that the mount’s driver could build there themselves:

  • Forge and NeoForge: it asks the game the way placing a block does, so claim mods that guard block placing are asked too.
  • Fabric and Quilt: it asks every mod that uses the Common Protection API, and Open Parties and Claims.

Adventure and spectator mode, spawn protection and the world border stop it too. The mobGriefing game rule and the settings in Keep abilities from hurting players or blocks come on top.

Good to know

  • Keys: some of the mod’s default keys are also used by popular mods (shader loaders, voice chat, map mods). When the game starts with a clash, the mod offers free keys in a small window. Nothing changes until you press Apply, and Close asks again next time. You can always change them in Controls.
  • Modded dimensions: flying mounts fly only in the Overworld and the End until you add a dimension to allowedDimensions. See Control where mounts fly.
  • Biome mods: mounts spawn in the biomes they’re made for. With mods that replace or add many biomes, some mounts can be rarer.
  • Mods that animate players: set riderMotion to 0 in your fantasy-client.toml so riders sit still and the other mod animates them.
  • Dynamic light mods: glowing mounts light their surroundings themselves (unless the server turns glowingMountsLightTheWorld off), and a dynamic light mod alongside is harmless.
  • Sinytra Connector: on NeoForge, use the NeoForge jar of Fantasy Mounts, not the Fabric one.
  • An older Fantasy Mounts jar left in the mods folder is refused at start: remove it, the new one replaces it. Your worlds and settings carry over.
