How do I...Server owners

Make mounts stronger or weaker

Scale every mount's stats and abilities at once, one mount at a time, or one skill at a time, without losing future balance fixes.

Rebalancing lives in fantasy-balance.toml and fantasy-skills.toml. Every value there is a multiplier on what the mod ships with: 1.0 is as shipped, 1.5 is half again, 0.5 is half. Because they multiply, a balance fix in a later update still reaches your server, with your scaling on top.

Every mount at once

[stats] scales each stat for every mount, wild and tamed, on top of levels and skills: maxHealth, movementSpeed, jumpStrength, flightSpeed, swimSpeed, stamina, staminaDrain, staminaRegen, armor, armorToughness, attackDamage and knockbackResistance.

[abilities] scales every ability: damage, cooldowns (0.5 recharges twice as often) and effectDuration (how long stuns, slowness, poison and healing last).

# fantasy-balance.toml: tougher mounts whose abilities recharge more slowly
[stats]
    maxHealth = 1.5
[abilities]
    cooldowns = 1.25

One mount at a time

Each mount has a section at the end of the file, multiplied on top of everything above it:

[mounts.doom_horse]
    health = 1.0
    # Ground, flight and swimming speed.
    speed = 0.9
    abilityDamage = 0.8
    abilityCooldowns = 1.0

Skills

fantasy-skills.toml has a strength dial for every skill that adds numbers: what it raises and by how much is written above each one. A skill’s strength is global.strength x the mount’s allSkills x its own dial, so you can weaken every skill, one mount’s tree, or a single skill.

[global]
    strength = 1.0

[griffin]
    allSkills = 0.8

Skills that only grant or reshape an ability have no number to scale, so they have no dial; the note above each mount’s section names them.

Changes apply within a couple of seconds, to mounts already in the world too.
