Questions people ask
Quick answers about restarts, resets, servers, single player, the encyclopedia and where to learn about each mount.
Do I have to restart after changing a setting?
No. Save the file and the mod picks it up within a couple of seconds, and players on a server get it a moment later. The one exception is where mounts spawn, which data packs set: that needs a restart.
Where do I learn about a mount, its abilities or an item?
In the Riders Encyclopedia: every mount in 3D, with its abilities, stats, seats, coats, how to tame and breed it, where it lives, and every item and what it’s for. This Learn section is about setting the mod up.
How do I put every setting back to its default?
Delete the file while the game (or the server) is closed. The mod writes it again, with every setting at its default, the next time it starts. To reset one setting, delete its line the same way.
I changed my config but the server ignores it
On a server, the server’s files decide its rules, balance and skills. Your own fantasy-client.toml still applies to your game. See How server settings reach players.
Will an update reset my settings?
Almost never. Each file remembers its format, and when an update renames a setting or moves it within its file, the mod carries your value over and says so in its log. A value that no longer fits a changed setting goes back to its default, and the log says that too.
Can I give players the commands without making them operators?
On Fabric and Quilt, yes, with a permission mod such as LuckPerms: each command has its own permission node. On Forge and NeoForge the commands are for operators. See Commands.
Can I turn off one mount without removing the mod?
Yes: enabled = false in its section of fantasy-server.toml. See Turn off a mount, or one of its abilities.
Do players need the mod to join my server?
Yes, the same version as the server. See Other mods.
