Balance

Multipliers for stats, abilities, levelling, XP, taming, breeding, wild life, spawning and quest rewards. Leave it alone and nothing changes.

This file belongs to the world, or to the server. On a server, the server's copy decides for every player on it. In single player it is your world's. On Forge, Fabric and Quilt (and NeoForge up to 26.2) it is in the world's serverconfig folder; on NeoForge 26.3 and newer, in config.

Stats [stats]

Every mount's stats, multiplied (1.0 = as the data packs set them; 1.2 = 20% more). Applied on top of levels and skills, to wild and tamed mounts alike. One mount at a time: [mounts].

maxHealth#

Health.

NumberDefault 1From 0.1 to 10

NumberDefault 1From 0.1 to 10

effectDuration#

How long the effects abilities put on what they hit last: stuns, slowness, poison, a healing pulse's regeneration (auras a mount keeps up on itself and its riders are left alone).

NumberDefault 1From 0.25 to 10

Progression [progression]

How mounts level up. The switches (on/off, the overall XP rate, skill resets) are in fantasy-server.toml. XP from one level to the next is xpBase + xpGrowth * level^xpExponent; as shipped that is 140 XP for level 2, about 4,600 in all for level 10 and 59,000 for level 30. A mount's level is worked out from its XP, so a new curve re-levels existing mounts. Learned skills a lower level, level cap or skill points no longer cover rest, kept, until they are covered again.

maxLevel#

The highest level for every mount (0: each mount's own, 30 for every shipped mount). Never goes below the level a mount's last ability or skill unlocks at, so nothing goes out of reach.

Whole numberDefault 0From 0 to 100

skillPointsPerLevel#

Skill points every level after the first gives (-1: each mount's own, 1 for every shipped mount).

Whole numberDefault -1From -1 to 5

statGrowth#

How much stats rise per level, multiplied (0: levels don't raise stats).

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 10

xpBase#

XP every level takes, before the growth.

NumberDefault 100From 0 to 100,000

xpGrowth#

XP added per level, raised to xpExponent.

NumberDefault 40From 0 to 100,000

xpExponent#

How much steeper each level gets (1: every level adds the same; 2: later levels take far longer).

NumberDefault 1.4From 0 to 4

Progression: XP [progression.xp]

XP from each activity, multiplied (its per-minute cap grows with it; 0 turns that activity's XP off). As shipped: riding gives 1.5 XP a second on the move, following 1 per 10 blocks, staying near the owner 2 every 30 seconds, an ability 2 plus 0.6 per second of its cooldown, combat 1.5 per point of damage, a meal 3, a foal 25 and tending 2. Following and staying near the owner are company alone: they give their full rate for 20 minutes together, then fade to nothing by an hour, and come back while the mount and its owner are apart (fresh again after 80 minutes).

riding#

Carrying a rider on the move.

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 100

following#

Following its owner or the whistle (wears off with time together).

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 100

nearOwner#

Spending time within 24 blocks of its owner (wears off with time together).

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 100

abilities#

Using its abilities.

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 100

combat#

Hurting other creatures.

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 100

feeding#

Being fed.

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 100

breeding#

Having a foal.

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 100

tending#

Being saddled, given armour or a chest, or having its inventory opened.

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 100

Taming [taming]

Taming, feeding and breeding.

speed#

How quickly mounts are tamed: temper gained from food and from each ride that ends with you bucked off, and the chance a taming item works (2.0 = twice as fast, 0.5 = half as fast). Taming challenges keep their item counts.

NumberDefault 1From 0.1 to 10

foodHealing#

Health a mount gets back from food.

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 10

breedingCooldownSeconds#

Seconds after having a foal before a mount can breed again (as vanilla animals: 300).

Whole numberDefault 300From 0 to 86,400

growUpSeconds#

Seconds a foal takes to grow up (as vanilla animals: 1200). Feeding still speeds it up.

Whole numberDefault 1,200From 0 to 86,400

Wild [wild]

Untamed mounts going about their lives. The switches are in fantasy-server.toml.

activity#

NumberDefault 1From 0.1 to 10

startleDistance#

How close players can come before a shy mount bolts, multiplied (0: nothing is shy).

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 5

On or offDefault true

webLifetime#

How long webs spun by wild spiders last, multiplied.

NumberDefault 1From 0.1 to 10

maxWebsPerSpider#

Wild mounts appearing and leaving. Where and how often each mount spawns is set in data packs (fantasy_spawn and the biome modifiers); a mount's wild spawns are switched off in fantasy-server.toml.

chance#

The chance a wild spawn goes ahead, multiplied (0.5 = about half as many wild mounts, 0: none).

NumberDefault 1From 0 to 1

despawnFarAway#

Untamed mounts no player is near despawn, as monsters do. Tamed, named, leashed, ridden and bred mounts never do. Off: wild mounts stay, as vanilla animals do.

On or offDefault false

Whistle [whistle]

Mounts following the Mount Whistle.

followSpeed#

How fast a mount follows its whistle (1.0 = its walking pace).

NumberDefault 1.3From 0.5 to 4

teleportDistance#

Blocks behind its owner a following mount gets before it teleports to them (whistle.teleport in fantasy-server.toml switches teleporting off).

Whole numberDefault 24From 8 to 256
